My icons look nice and crisp in photoshop but the second I upload them, they look blurry. Like they're being stretched slightly. Which is irritating because I do spend time on them. I'd like them to look half decent. This one in particular is bugging me because it took a while to get it looking bright but also sharp enough without being overly sharp.

Also for some reason apostrophes look weird with this font which is odd because I've used this font for layouts before and had no trouble.

Anyway onto Pillowfort's content policy. General warning for mentions of shota/loli content

I already whined about this on twitter briefly. I think I'm with the majority of DW on this one. The updated policy is a bad move. And the knee-jerk reaction "if you don't support the policy you're a pedophile!" isn't helping either. Because it's so much more than that.

Others have discussed this at length and with WAY better explanations that me, but the policy is too vague. "No illustrated sexual content of characters that look underage" is impossible to enforce. Listen, I get it. Shota and Loli is creepy to a lot of people. But how do you determine who's underage just by looking? There are 12 year olds that look like full grown adults. Should content of them be allowed because they look like adults? How do you KNOW they aren't adults?

What about the other end of the spectrum, adults in their 20s who get mistaken for teenagers? I'm 25. I've been mistaken for as young as 13 before. I've even been refused alcohol, even with my ID, because the cashier couldn't believe I was that old. She thought my ID was fake.

What about transgender adults (especially trans men because this is often a problem for us) who look young? We draw people that look like us. We draw people that look like us in sexual situations. Pornography is almost never aimed at LGBT people, so we have to make our own.

It's hard to enforce because it would mean labor intensive moderation. And if pillowfort gets as big as tumblr, you're looking at THOUSANDS of potential reports a day. It would mean googling the canon ages of characters... unless the character doesn't have a canon age. What then? And what about stylized anime where the adults look like children and the children look like adults?

A much simpler solution would be to go the AO3 and Dreamwidth route and just allow everything that's legal under US law (which is where pillowfort is based). This means illustrated porn of minors would be allowed, but NOT real-life photos of child pornography (which is super duper illegal almost everywhere, as it should be.)

Powerful blacklisting features is what pillowfort should be focusing on, so many social networking sites lack it as a built in feature (even Dreamwidth!)

Yeah, it's a policy that is begging to be misused. i have zero desire to ever look at shota or lolicon, buuuut i don't want to touch a site with a policy like that with a ten foot poll.

Just want to say that is a lovely icon! I constantly suffer with that. Do you sharpen your image before or after you shrink it?

As for Pillowfort, it has a great concept but it will be interesting to see how it is enforced.

Yeah, I tend to sharpen after resizing, also some textures can interfere with sharpening so depending on the texture, make sure the part that you want to sharpen is free of texture type stuffs.

Also, I have done some sharpening on specific areas where I want it stand up-- like this I think that I sharpened it but I sharpened her lips to draw attention to it
